We recently finished up this patio cover replacement for a client in Moorpark and he was quite pleased with the end result! As you can see in the photos, the previous patio cover had seen many years of sun damage and family life, and was visibly crumbling and didn’t do much to enhance the natural look of the back yard. We took it down, disposed of the old wood, and started to construct a new one in its place.
The biggest difference between the new patio cover and the old one is the solid roof top. The old patio cover had slatted boards, which were designed to provide a bit of a cooler, shadier patio but not completely block out the sun. However, rain can come through the slats and dirt can become visible between the slats quickly. The solid roof top provides enhanced shade for our client and a more uniform, clean look. Plus, the family can enjoy the patio even on the brightest of days, thanks to the shade, and on slightly rainy days, thanks to the roof.
The circular shape was retained, because it complements the shape of the patio, but it’s a bit more enhanced because you can see the circular pattern of the patio cover roof top.
It was finished off with a dark, natural wood stain to bring out the original cut of the wood, and the new patio cover look will mesh much better with the landscaped backyard (yet to come) than if it were painted white. We think it looks quite good, and our client agrees!
“Thank you, Gil, for the recent repairs and upgrades that you have completed in my backyard. I appreciate the manner in which you have remained flexible throughout the process. Your oversight has been valuable in ensuring that everything has been done to a high standard. I would be glad to hire Palatin Remodeling for future projects. Thank you.” -Brian
